DUI Traffic Schools in Hernando County, Florida
Being convicted of driving under the influence in Florida requires you to attend a licensed DUI program for the county where you live and work. Hernando County residents, along with those from Citrus, Lake, Marion and Sumter county, must complete their DUI class at West Central Florida Driver Improvement. Hernando County is part of Florida's 5th Circuit Court, and all DUI convictions in the country are require to attend West Central Florida Driver Improvement.

West Central Florida Driver Improvement has five offices located in Florida -- Hernando, Citrus, Marion, Lake and Sumter. Those convicted of a DUI offense in Hernando County must attend the school located in Brooksville.
How to Register

You can register for West Central Florida Driver Improvement's DUI program using the school's website. The online registration collects your personal information, type of offense and payment -- Level I is $250 and Level II is $385 as of 2011. Level I is for first-time DUI convictions, and Level II is for repeat offenders. After registering online, call the Hernando County office to schedule an assessment and a time for class.

Evaluation Appointment

An evaluation appointment will assess your physical addiction to alcohol and the circumstances that led to the DUI. The assessment includes a written and psychological exam and personal interview.You must bring a copy of the arrest report (including the Breathalyzer results), related court documents and a copy of your entire driving history.
Program Information

Level I is a 12-hour DUI program illustrating the personal and societal dangers related to drinking and driving. It assesses a person's alcohol abuse, provides solutions for participants when they are confronted with a potential DUI situation, and suggests additional resources to help combat drinking and driving. The program will also give information about laws pertaining to DUIs. Level II programs are intended to expand on the Level I programs by extending the course to 21 hours; they intensively investigate the circumstances behind the continual abuse of alcohol.
Class Rules

West Central Florida Driver Improvement has a list of specific rules that must be adhered to while attending a DUI program. Failure to follow the rules will result in expulsion from the class -- all fees are nonrefundable. Expulsion from the Level I program may require attending the Level II program. Individuals cannot abuse alcohol or any other narcotic substance before attending the program; Breathalyzers may be administered at the beginning of each class. Attendance is mandatory. At least five days' notification is required to reschedule a class. The program must be completed 90 days after payment is made. West Central Florida Driver Improvement will send a complete class rules booklet after registration.
