Crafts With Snow Flakes

Crafts With Snow Flakes thumbnail
No two snowflakes are alike.

The first snow flake of winter brings excitement to the hearts of little ones. Children cannot wait to zoom down a hill on a sled, build a snowman or make snow angels. Using simple craft items, you can bring a little bit of winter fun inside by celebrating the season with snow flake crafts.

  1. Beaded Snowflake

    • Use three equal lengths of pipe cleaners. Stack them and twist them in their centers, then pull all six ends apart to form a snowflake shape. Thread beads onto all six arms until there is only one bead length remaining on each arm. Roll the pipe cleaner ends to prevent the beads from sliding. Use a Christmas tree ornament hook to hang the snowflake on the tree.

    Pasta Snowflake

    • Use uncooked pasta to create a beautiful snowflake design. Spray paint a variety of uncooked pasta noodles. White or silver paint is appropriate, but any pastel color would like. Use wagon wheel pasta, elbow macaroni, spaghetti and any other noodle you have available. After the noodles have dried, arrange the pasta into snowflake shapes on blue or black construction paper. Embellish the snowflakes with sparkle, jewels and decorative ribbon.

    Styrofoam and Bead Snowflake

    • Thread seed, crystal and pearl beads onto a corsage pin in any pattern you choose. Push the pin into a small Styrofoam ball. Continue to add beads and pins to the ball until you have at least twelve pins with beads stuck into the ball. Add more pins if for a more elaborate design. Brush white craft glue onto the Styrofoam ball and cover with silver or white glitter.

    Feather Snowflakes

    • Paint three craft sticks, formally known as Popsicle sticks, a light winter color such as white, light blue or silver. Stack the three sticks and glue them together in the middle to create a snowflake shape. Cut white feathers so they are the same length as the sticks and attach them to the sticks with glue. Ostrich feather boas also work well for this craft. Embellish with glitter, jewels and sequins. Finish by tying a piece of invisible thread or decorative ribbon to create a loop for hanging.
