Decorative Things to Do With Sea Glass
Sea glass, sometimes referred to as mermaid's tears, comes from the ocean as old broken bottles and glass tumble in the waves and the process smoothes their edges. As colorful as the bottles themselves, sea glass can be used to decorate your home. Get creative as you bring these ocean jewels into your décor.

Candle
-
Bring the soft illuminating glow of color through the use of sea glass and a candle. Place a clear Margarita glass into the center of a tray and center a small votive inside. Layer multi-colored sea glass chips and beads around the votive and cover them with water. Stick a candle inside the votive, preferably that offsets the sea glass, before lighting the candle. Arrange a cornucopia basket of flowers on the other side of the tray and sprinkle flowers inside the tray to create a centerpiece for a holiday table.
Mirror
-
Design a sea glass border for a hanging mirror in your bedroom. Pick a frameless mirror with a hanging mechanism attached in the back. Examine your sea glass to find the colors, shapes and sizes for your design. Try out several designs on the mirror until you find the one you like best. Hot glue the back of the sea glass and position it on the mirror. Repeat this procedure for each piece as you fill the perimeter of the mirror. For tiny holes, chip the sea glass into smaller sections and glue the chips to cover.

Mosaic
-
Make your own sea glass mosaic for hanging. Pick up a wooden plaque large enough for your design. Draw your design onto the plaque as you outline the details. Decide on the colors for the design and the shape of sea glass for each section. Blend the sea glass together as you use square sea glass tiles, round sea glass beads or uneven sea glass pieces. Hot glue the pieces to the wood as you fill in your design. Cover the sides with sea glass and hang on the wall.
Miscellaneous
-
Accent your home décor with sea glass. Fill a large brandy sifter with sea glass and place it in the center of your table as a centerpiece or put sea glass with decorative scented soaps into the bathroom. Group sea glass into the bottom a clear hurricane vase, add water and arrange flowers of a similar color on top for a hallway table display. Combine coral and sea glass into a large flat container and place it on your desk.
