Putting drains in the basement will help waterproof it by providing a place for water to flow so it won't linger and damage the basement or items in the basement. Having a sump pump helps move the water through the foundation and out from underneath the basement floor.

To keep humidity levels in the basement down, interior sealants can be applied. When applied directly to where leaks have occurred, sealants can keep moisture from spreading throughout the basement and becoming absorbed into the basement's walls and floor.

Exterior Waterproofing

The International Business Code recognizes exterior waterproofing as being the method that keeps houses up to structural codes. Polymers or membranes applied to the basement walls protect from cracking and seepage.

Air and Ventilation

Keep a basement dry by making sure their is ample air and ventilation throughout it. This can be achieved with a simple fan system or with humidifiers.
