Make your cards with as much or as little detail as you deem appropriate.

Store-bought greeting cards can be pricey. Furthermore, it is sometimes difficult to find the perfect card for a specific person with an appropriate message inside. To avoid these issues, put your craftiness to the test and make your own greeting cards. Make them in different sizes and shapes and with as much intricate detail as you desire. Make the perfect card for a specific person each and every time.

  1. Dried Flowers

    • Use dried flowers to decorate your homemade greeting card. Pick an assortment of flowers in different colors. Place the flowers on a piece of blotter paper, and place a second piece of blotter paper on top. Stick the entire thing inside a book and close it so that the book presses the flowers. Allow the flowers to dry for about three weeks. Once you confirm that the flowers are completely dry, use a clear drying glue to adhere them to your card stock. You can cover the card with contact paper to protect the flower petals.

    Collage with Assorted Media

    • Create a collage with old buttons, lace, ribbon and charms. Arrange these items on your card stock in a pattern that suits you or the person to whom you are giving the card. Use a clear-drying glue to adhere the buttons, lace and ribbon. To adhere charms and heavier pieces of jewelry, you will need a heavy-duty glue.

Recycling Old Postcards and Greeting Cards

    • Go through your attic or to a flea market to find old postcards and greeting cards. Cut out interesting pictures and signs to spell out a message. Arrange these cut-outs onto your card stock to create a scrapbook-style greeting card with old-world charm. Once you are happy with the composition, glue down with a clear-drying adhesive. Add old stamps for a final touch.

    Sparkling Stars and Sequins

    • Purchase silver stars and purple sequins from your local craft store. Arrange the stars and sequins on a black card stock. Create a fun composition and when you are happy with it, use a clear-drying adhesive to carefully glue everything down.
