A high waistline takes attention away from your tummy.

Problem areas in women range from their thighs and buttocks to their belly and arms. Exercising in the gym and dieting will help eliminate these problem areas over time. Meanwhile, there are ways you can instantly get a flat tummy, lean legs, tight buttocks and toned arms. All it takes is knowing which clothes to wear that will hide and camouflage your problem spots and accentuate your best assets.

  1. Flabby Waist

    • If most of your weight rests in your waist, wearing large tops will make your look even bigger. To shape your body and to whittle your waist, you should wear fitted clothing instead. A jacket with a banded waist will add shape to your figure and create the illusion of a smaller waistline.

A top with a high waist just below your bra line will draw attention to your bust and away from your waist. The loose flowing fabric of the top will also hide your tummy flab. Choose dark colored tops with vertical lines or patterns. Black, purple, brown and navy blue all have slimming effects.

Balance your look with medium to large accessories such as bags and watches.

    Flabby Thighs and Buttocks

    • A flabby lower body can be hidden in several ways. When you wear a dress, placing a belt around your waist will emphasize your shape and draw attention away from your lower body. The belt will give the illusion that you have longer, leaner legs than you actually do. Wearing a big collar or a shirt with a chunky neckline will help balance out your heavier lower body.

Wear dark clothing on your top and bottom to create a streamlined appearance. Avoid pairing dark pants with a bright top because this divides your body in half and make you look chunky and short. Wear high-heeled shoes to add length to your legs and make them appear slimmer.

    Flabby Arms

    • Flabby upper arms can be hidden by wearing tops and dresses with long to medium-long sleeves. Long-sleeved, boat-neck tops and long-sleeved tops that can be pulled down, off your shoulders are flattering. These emphasize your décolletage while hiding your arm flab. Look for tops and dresses that are loose on the top and fitted around your hips and waist.

    Body Shapers

    • If you don't have the time or money to buy flattering clothes, you can create the illusion that you have lost weight by wearing body-shaping undergarments. Body-slimming apparel such as those from Spanx are available in many different varieties, ranging from camis and mid-thigh shapers to bodysuits and slips. These smooth out your flabby areas so you can wear body-hugging outfits without having to worry about your bumps and lumps being visible.
