Crafts to Decorate Flip-Flops
A basic pair of rubber flip-flop sandals won't cost much, but a pair of fancy ones with beads or baubles can set you back plenty. Instead of buying expensive flip-flops, buy a cheap pair and embellish them yourself. There are many different crafts to decorate flip-flops, creating one-of-a-kind shoes that will dress your feet in style.

Ribbons
-
Jazz up flip-flops with ribbons. Tie an assortment of satin or grosgrain ribbons onto the flip-flop straps. Use ribbons of varying widths and at least a few different colors. Try a two-toned look with two contrasting colors. Another idea is to use ribbons in the three primary colors --- red, blue and yellow. Use ribbons in pink and white for a light, feminine style. Make the ribbons and the flip-flop color coordinate with each other, for best results. Cut the ribbons into 6-inch lengths and start tying them onto the straps of the flip-flops. Tie the ribbons in double knots and make them very close to each other to create a full and fuzzy look on your flip-flop straps.
Beads
-
Make your flip-flops "pop" by adding colorful beads. Cut lengths of flexible stringing wire about 3 inches longer than one half of the flip-flop strap (from the center point to where it attaches at the side of your foot). Attach the end of the stringing wire to the flip-flop strap where it attaches to the side of your foot by wrapping it around the strap tightly and twisting. String colorful beads onto the wire, leaving about 1 1/2 inches of wire empty. Pull the wire up to the center point of the flip-flop strap and wrap it around the strap at this point tightly to secure it. Make three more identical bead embellishments for the other half of this flip-flop and then, the other.

Buttons
-
Buttons add brilliant color to flip-flops. Glue colorful flat buttons to flip-flop straps. Use buttons in a variety of different sizes and shapes and glue them with a hot glue gun. Make the button pattern random, mixing up the colors and shapes to create a design that you like. Make the flip-flops identical or make them different. Allow the glue to dry completely before you wear the flip-flops.
Feathers
-
Soft feathers can add a frilly touch to flip-flops. Gather some frilly and colorful feathers that complement the color of your flip-flops. Arrange the feathers over the flip-flop straps and glue them into place with the hot glue gun. Glue enough feathers onto the straps so that you cannot see the basic flip-flop straps at all and the flip-flops appear to have fuzzy, feathery straps instead. Allow the glue to dry completely before you wear the flip-flops.
