Tips on How to Stop Red Birds From Hitting Windows thumbnail
Birds have a habit of hitting windows.

Birds will on occasion bump into windows or glass doors. This is a common occurrence which results in the deaths of millions of birds worldwide. Red birds are no different and will do so either when they see their reflection and try to "fight" it away or when they see the reflection of trees and try flying into them. If this is a problem in your home, there are several simple steps you should take to prevent red birds from hitting your window. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Put up Curtains

    • Birds do not understand what reflections are, so what we see as a reflection looks real to a red bird. If you eliminate the reflection, the problem should diminish. Place curtains over your windows so when light shines onto the glass, reflections are eliminated.

    Create a Barrier

    • A bird barrier placed over your windows will be highly effective. These barriers can come in the form of netting, spikes or wooden boards. All three have various advantages and disadvantages but ultimately they all will be effective to an extent in preventing red birds from hitting your windows. Research all three in more detail before deciding which one to use.

    Bird Stickers

    • Placing bird stickers onto your windows is a very effective and cheap way to deter red birds from hitting your windows. These bird stickers will create a silhouette which breaks up the reflections, meaning birds are less likely to fly towards your windows. They come in all sorts of shapes, designs and sizes so they can be used to match your home design or feel.

    Change your Windows

    • The most drastic option is to change your windows. Red birds are much more likely to hit large panes of glass than smaller frames, so in the long run it may be worth changing the type of windows you have. Divide your windows into smaller panes to reduce the risk of red birds hitting them.
