Hairstyles for Brides in 2010
Every year there are new wedding hairstyle trends that brides want to copy. A good way to spot trends is to check out the bridal shows where models sport the latest hairstyles on the runway. 2010 saw many new wedding hairstyle trends for brides, as well as the classic hairdos that never go out of style. Here are some of the most commonly seen hairstyle trends for weddings in 2010. Does this Spark an idea?

Updo Hairstyle Trends
-
The classic updo was given a more casual twist in 2010. The stiff and perfect-looking updo was replaced with a looser and more relaxed version which didn't mind having minor imperfections. The swirled-open chignon is a typical ballerina bun that is softened by adding volume on the crown of the hair and sides. Another trend for updos is the embellished updo, wherein beaded threads incorporated to the hairstyle peek out from loose chignons and shine like golden highlights in the hair. Flowers were also given importance in 2010 with chignons twisted to look like rosettes on the hair.
Long Hairstyle Trends
-
Although free flowing locks will always be fashionable, they were given a trendy update with colourful satin ribbons tied to the hair, giving it a glimpse of color. The ribbons could match the color motif of the wedding. The satin ribbons can be found online (see resources). Braids were also trendy in 2010 with long hair braided loosely and falling on one side of a bride's shoulder.

Short Hairstyle Trends
-
Various short hairstyles were popular in 2010 such as the pixie cut, bowl cut and the bob with bangs. Although somewhat difficult to style for weddings, the short hairdos got dressed up with unique accessories like embellished headbands and feathered pins. Another trend was the wavy short hair reminiscent of the 1920's flapper girl hairdo. This was achieved by curling the hair with a hot iron to produce elegant waves.
Other Trends
-
Also seen in 2010 were simple and fuss-free pony-tail hairdos paired with fresh flowers. The television series "Mad Men" has also brought back the beehive hairdo that is paired with vintage-looking veils.
