School Uniforms
-
Graduates that play sports, or those are on the drama team or a part of some other extracurricular school activity, should consider incorporating that activity into the senior photo. If you are on the basketball team, cheerleading squad, chess team or other school organization, wear your school jersey or uniform for your senior picture. Not only will wearing this attire show your school spirit, but it will also remind you of some of the organizations you were a part of during your high school years.
Lifestyle Poses
-
A picture can truly be worth a thousand words. Use your senior picture to share what you're like without the need for words. If you like riding horses, consider taking your senior picture at a horse farm, or at your home if you have horses and stables on your land. Take your photo next to or on your horse. Other picture ideas that would showcase your lifestyle include shooting at a skateboarding park if you're a skateboarder, or taking photos at an art museum or in front of a mural you painted if you're an artist. These are your senior pictures, and each pose should represent you and your lifestyle in some way.

Backgrounds and Props
-
Narrowing down the right pose for your senior photo may be tougher than you imagine. To ease this process, most portrait studios have backgrounds and props for graduates to utilize. Backgrounds often include classroom and school building backdrops, and you can pose with lockers, desks, computers and other types of props you would find in a high school setting. Another popular senior picture prop is the graduation year numbers. You can stand in front of the last two numbers of the year you're graduating in for your senior picture.
High School Cap and Gown
-
Taking professional senior portraits the day of your graduation may not be possible, so you may want to get a picture of yourself in your cap and gown in advance. Hold a fake diploma as a prop. Your parents may want to hang this photo above the mantel or on a family photo wall. You can also use this senior picture for your graduation announcements and as your yearbook photo. What better way to remember your high school graduation than in the attire you will wear when you walk across the stage and make your graduation official? Some portrait studios have caps and gowns available to use, in case you don't have yours yet.
