I Need Ideas for a Sage Green & Lilac Wedding Theme
Choosing your wedding colors makes the other planning aspects easier. The colors help to guide you through the decision-making process, from table settings and invitations to the bride's maids dresses. Sage green and lilac are colors straight from nature that work well for a spring or summer wedding. They go well with plants and flower arrangements, and work well outdoors for beach or garden weddings.

Invitations
-
Most invitations are available in your choice of colors. Before you order anything, get a color sample from the hardware store's paint section so you have the exact shade of each color you want. Bring your samples to the person making your invitations and have her work them into the design. If your invitations are letterpress, the artisan can mix the ink to match your samples. If your invitations are digitally printed, you can find the numbered hexadecimal value to match your shade; this is the number computers use to generate colors.
Favors
-
Consider using both colors in your favors, but use plenty of neutral colors, too, so you don' t overwhelm your guests with your color theme. Cream and white are two classic neutral colors that provide an elegant backdrop to sage green and lilac. Wrap small white gift boxes with lilac and sage green ribbon and fill them with candies or small decorative soaps. Fill small bags with lilac seeds and tie them with sage green string.

The Dress
-
If you are a non-traditional bride, a lilac dress will dazzle your guests, while bringing out skin tones from porcelain to olive to chocolate. A sage green dress does the same, as both of these colors flatter most skin types. However, if you are a traditional bride and plan on wearing a white dress, consider a lilac sash, or wear lilacs in your hair. Use your accessories to bring out the colors. Wear a veil with embroidered sage green leaves, or shoes with lilac toes.
Flowers
-
Lilacs are the obvious choice for this theme, but it is quite alright to venture out with the flowers and incorporate other colors for a little variation. Sunflowers work well with lilac and sage green, as do bluebells. If you'd rather stick to the palette, complement your lilacs with baby's breath, Queen Anne's lace or pure white snapdragons. Include some foliage to play up the green. Plant displays without flowers are a non-traditional, nature-oriented way to complement an otherwise colorful wedding. Bundle a small bouquet of lilac flowers with sage green and cream ribbon for each place setting.
