Consider your income, age, lifestyle, financial needs, and common expenses before choosing a credit card.

Visa cards come in multiple levels of interest rates, fees, and rewards mostly based on your credit rating. It's important to consider your income, age, lifestyle, financial needs, and your most common expenditures before choosing a type of credit card.

  1. Capital One VentureOne Rewards Visa Credit Card

    • Though this card requires an excellent credit score, it comes with a great rewards program. For every dollar spent on any purchase, the card holder is rewarded with 1.25 miles to use for free air travel with no blackout dates of any kind. The card has an introductory rate of 0 percent APR for a year before it goes up to somewhere between 11.9 percent to 19.9 percent on average. Balance transfers are allowed with the same APR as purchases.

Journey Student Rewards Visa Card from Capital One

    • This card is designed to help students build good credit responsibly, and as such, it comes with a relatively high average APR of 19 percent from the beginning. But the card doesn't have an annual fee, which means it's easier to keep the balance under control. The card keeps borrowers informed of their spending via free texts and e-mail alerts. Cardholders that pay for travel in full with this Visa platinum card will be covered automatically up to $100,000 in the event of death or dismemberment.

    Chase Freedom Visa

    • A $150 bonus check is awarded to cardholders that make $500 in purchases in their first 3 months. Basic expenses like gas, home improvement and department store expenditures have 5 percent cash back. This card requires great credit and has an average APR of 11.99 percent.

Capital One Cash Rewards for Newcomers

    • If you are trying to build or rebuild your credit, then this card could be a good way to do that. You only need a fair credit rating to qualify for it (620-659), and it automatically reports your progress to the three major credit bureaus. Also, the card gives 2 percent cash back on travel purchases with no annual fee. The main disadvantage is the 24.9 percent average APR.
