Building a Pool
-
If you are thinking of installing a pool, it's best to do so before spring and summer, notes the Premier Pool and Spa website. It can take up to 12 weeks to build a pool, not counting any time spent landscaping your pool space. Plan enough time for pool installation to guarantee a full season of use once it's installed.
Vanishing Edge
-
A vanishing edge pool is a design best suited for small yards with a steep drop-off. It usually has a rectangular shape, although it can be designed with a rounded shape to naturally curve around your yard as well. You can often include a built-in spa either at one corner or side of the pool if you desire one. Its infinity-edge allows an unobstructed view of the scenery below. Unlike a traditional in-ground pool with a patio that surrounds all four sides, only two or three of a vanishing pool's sides are at ground-level with a patio with access into the pool.

Lap Pool
-
A lap pool is an option for a small, narrow yard. A lap pool has a rectangular shape that is wide enough to for at least one user performing laps or more than one swimmer for recreation. Pool builders can design them to include a spa at one end. Steps strategically placed at one end offer access to the pool. These pools are generally for exercise or cooling off on a hot day.
Free Form Pool
-
A free form pool has rounded edges and is typically custom designed to maximize yard space. They generally have no recognizable shape, and are meant to flow freely around a patio or landscape edging. Free form pools are ideal for small, flat yards. They can be installed with a water feature, such as a rock formation or waterfall, to add interest to your outdoor space. Free form pools are best for recreational use in a causal backyard setting.
