Mother's Day Crafts Using Candy
Surprise your mom this Mother's Day with an edible Mother's Day craft she will enjoy. Show your mom how special she is by taking the time to create a gift by hand, made from candy. Replace a store-bought gift with one created from the heart this Mother's Day and watch the smile on your mom's face when she finds out you made it yourself.

A Candy Wreath

Purchase a six inch Styrofoam wreath at your local craft store. Break a toothpick in half and stick one end in the gumdrop and the other end into the wreath. Place them row by row until the wreath is covered in gumdrops. Place the gumdrops close together so the wreath is completely covered. Create your wreath using only one color of gumdrops, create a pattern using the gumdrops or just randomly place the colored gumdrops on the wreath. Be creative.
Candy Necklace

Select a thin ribbon that is your mom's favorite color. Purchase about 10 packs of Lifesavers, depending on the size of the necklace you create. Tie a knot four inches from the end of the ribbon. String a Lifesaver onto the ribbon. Alternate colors, create a pattern or use only one color; the choice is yours. Once the Lifesavers are in place, tie both ends of the ribbon together, making sure it is big enough to fit over your mom's head, and your candy necklace is complete.

Lollipop Plant

Decorate a two-inch or larger plant pot with acrylic paint. Paint flowers, a rainbow or whatever you want to make the pot something your mom will love. Leave the pot to dry. Paint the pot with a water based glaze to seal it. Place a small piece of Styrofoam inside the base of the pot. Open a large bag of any type of lollipop and begin placing them in the Styrofoam, placing the lollipop heads as close together as possible. Fill the rest of the inside of the pot with Spanish moss.
Chocolate-Covered Spoon

Put together a hot chocolate basket for your mom and include a chocolate dipped spoon to go along with it. Melt chocolate chips in a pan. Dip the spoon in to cover the top of the spoon and about one inch of the handle. Lay the spoon on a piece of wax paper and place it in the freezer to harden. Take it out and wrap the spoon in a small cellophane bag. Tie the bag with a ribbon. Purchase a mug and in the mug place a hot chocolate package, some marshmallows and the chocolate covered spoon you created.
