Use dark and icy colors for your winter wedding.

Choosing the right wedding colors to suit your winter-themed wedding will set the tone for the decorations and bridal attire. Winter colors tend to be darker or simulate cold, like blue and white for ice. Dark shades of red, purple, brown, gray and silver are also winter colors.

  1. Cinnamon and Purple

    • Cinnamon is a shade of brown that complements the color purple. For best results, use aubergine purple with cinnamon. Dress bridesmaids in both colors, and add a pop of both colors to the bridal gown by wrapping aubergine and cinnamon sashes around the bride's waist. Use flowers like lavender, lilacs and hydrangea wrapped in cinnamon-colored ribbon with a few white roses for bouquets and centerpieces. Alternatively, for centerpieces, use clear vases and put brown rocks or gems in the bottom before placing the flowers in the vase.

    Red and Gray

    • For a red and gray winter wedding, bridesmaids' dresses should be gray with a red sash or red with a gray sash. Accent the bridal gown with red or gray, as well. Groomsmen can have a gray and silver striped tie, while the groom might wear a red tie. Use red and white roses wrapped in gray ribbon for bouquets and red roses for boutonnieres.

    Midnight Blue and Silver

    • Midnight blue is a very dark blue, and with the accent of silver, creates a classy winter color combination. Use midnight blue bridesmaids' dresses with silver shoes and silver jewels on the dress. The bridal gown can also have silver accents on it, like jewels or a silver sash around the waist. For the groomsmen, use blue and silver striped ties to match the bridesmaids' dresses. Use white flowers for bouquets and have them wrapped in midnight blue and sheer silver ribbon.

    Hunter Green and White

    • With a green and white color scheme, have the bridesmaids in hunter green with a white sash. To match, use green ties for the groomsmen. Decorate with white flowers such as calla lilies, roses or gardenias. Accent the arrangements with baby's breath, holly and evergreen. Also, for the reception area, use white chair covers and wrap the chairs with hunter green bows. Wrap the tiers of the wedding cake in hunter green ribbon.
