Short Courses in Financial Management

Business management is a vast field, and students often have to specialize in a particular sub-field, such as finance, marketing or human resources. Financial management is a program that helps students to learn the financial aspects of any business, which primarily involve assets and money management. A number of short courses are offered in this discipline.

Career Diploma in Financial Planning

Ashworth College offers a career diploma in financial planning. The institution recommends the program for students with a math background. Students below 17 years of age cannot participate in this program. Students learn the fundamental concepts relating to personal finance, such as insurance, retirement planning, budgeting, credit planning and tax planning. Students who sign up for this program will get their study guides and lesson plans from the college. Students can complete their diploma online.

Career Diploma -- Intro to Financial Statements

This is another short diploma program offered by Ashworth College. The program is specifically intended to help students in understanding and interpreting different types of financial statements, such as balance sheets, cash flow statements and income statements. Other topics covered include financial budgeting, expenses, sales management, manufacturing and inventorying. Students are allowed to complete this course online.

Finance Workshops for Nonfinancial Executives

The American Management Association (AMA) offers a four-day workshop on finance. The workshop is intended for business managers who do not have a proper background in finance. The workshop is held by AMA in several locations across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington. You will receive a certificate from AMA upon completing the workshop.

Two-Day Finance for Non-Finance Managers Course

This short course, offered by DC Gardner Training, lasts only for two days and is meant to provide executives who have not previously studied finance with an overview of the most fundamental accounting and finance concepts. The program requires students to bring along financial calculators. Students with an understanding of Microsoft Excel program are encouraged to apply for this program.

Other Short Courses

The Financial Management Training Center offers a number of short courses in financial management. These courses are offered for free and may be taken online. After completing every course, students are required to take an exam. The courses offered include evaluating financial performance, financial planning and forecasting, capital budgeting analysis, risk management, cash flow management and more. All the teaching material required to complete the course successfully is offered on the Financial Management Training Center website.
