Animals
-
Relate to a preschooler's size by teaching the importance of God knowing even the smallest of us. In Psalm 50:11, God says, "I know every bird." Follow this lesson with a chick or bird craft. Trace each child's hands on a piece of yellow construction paper. These will serve as wings. Print a template of a chick or bird. Have the children color the bird, then cut out and glue feet, eyes and beak, as well as the hand shapes for wings, to the template.
Bible Wreaths
-
For this craft you will need paper plates, yarn, scissors, glue and crayons. Print a template of your choice that directly relates to your lesson. For instance, when teaching Old Testament books, you can have the children color Noah's Ark, a whale for Jonah, a sun and clouds for creation, or an apple to represent Adam and Eve. Give each child a print out of items from the story they're studying and crayons. Cut the center out of the paper plates, creating a wreath shape. This will be the base of the wreath. Cut out and glue the colored pieces to the wreath. Next, glue a piece of yarn on the back to hang the wreath.

Jacob's Clay Bowl
-
Preschoolers will enjoy creating a bowl like Jacob used to gain Esau's birthright. The week before the project, send a clay recipe home with the children and ask if parents can donate simple kitchen supplies for the recipe. The next week, make the clay. Roll the clay into a ball, then let children stick thumbs into the center of the ball, pinching the sides to make it hollow. Give the bottom of the bowl a nice flat surface. Then bake or let the bowl air dry, depending on the type of clay recipe you use. Afterward, children can paint with non-toxic acrylic paint.
Make a Joyful Noise
-
Follow Psalm 95 and make a joyful noise in Sunday School. For this craft you will need a small plastic container or canister with a lid, like an oatmeal, yogurt or coffee container; dried beans, sand, or rocks. Decorate with stickers, paint, crayons, glue and construction paper. Then fill the can about 1/4 full with the beans or sand, then glue around the edge of the lid and place it on tightly. If supplies are an issue, send a note home to parents to see if anyone can help donate supplies.
