  1. Plants With a Hint of Yellow

    • Shrubs dominated by green with a small amount of yellow can provide the perfect pop of color in an otherwise green garden. The Variegated English Boxwood is a sturdy bush defined with small leaves with dark green centers. Yellow paints the perimeters of this variegated variety. Similar to the Boxwood, the Burning Bush plant has similar color with dark forest green centers with pale yellow edges to its flat, broad leaves. Try the Aucuba shrub for the smallest hint of yellow sprinkled within its large bright green leaves.

Plants with a Hint of Green

    • Golden Treasure has broad, maple-shaped leaves that shine in a yellow-green with a pale green center. If you are looking for a plant that looks mostly yellow, try the Howardi variety of the Ligustrum shrub. This variety grows yellow leaves, and as the leaves age, they turn a pale green color. Another pleasing variety is the Kaleidoscope Albelia. This shrub grows with sunny yellow leaves with a dark mottled green stripe decorating its center. Use these brighter yellow and green shrub varieties to mix up darker areas of your garden.

    Small Yellow and Green Shrubs

    • If you are looking for shrubbery to cover a smaller bare spot of your garden, consider the Color Guard variety of the Yucca shrub. It has long, pointed leaves with pale yellow centers with a dark green border. This desert plant grows between 24 and 30 inches high and can spread between 36 to 72 inches. The Sea of Gold Juniper shrub works as another smaller variety to help fill in the holes in your garden plan. This green-gold plant has scale like leaves and can grow about 3 feet high and 4 feet wide.

    Large Yellow and Green Shrubs

    • Although it belies its name, the dwarf goldthread falsecypress, or Golden Mop as it is more commonly known, can grow to 5 feet in height and diameter. If you are looking for an even larger shrub, consider the Goshiki Osmanthus shrub, which can grow to 9 feet high and 15 feet wide. This shrub features brightly colored variegated leaves that have a ridged shape similar to a holly leaf. For a little less show, try the more basic Subworth Arborvitae. This evergreen shrub has pale yellow and green needles and can grow 8 feet in height and up to 6 feet wide.
