How Often Should You Clean Your Shower Tiles?
Shower tiles need cleaning just like any other shower surface. Since tile is a solid, durable surface that does not easily absorb moisture, and grout typically is unaffected by moisture, this makes a tiled shower a suitable option that is found in many homes. Cleaning the tiles regularly prevents dirt and bacteria from accumulating in your shower area. Does this Spark an idea?

After Each Use
-
Wipe down the shower tile after each use with a dry towel or cleaning rag. This collects any leftover moisture or soap scum residue before it has a chance to dry onto the tile. Wiping after each use will keep the tile looking polished if you rub the tile in small circular motions.
Weekly Cleaning
-
Clean the tiles weekly with a mixture of 2 cups water, 1 tsp. dish soap and 1/2 cup white vinegar. Put this in a spray bottle and mist shower tile, then scrub with a damp cleaning sponge. Use a nylon scrubbing pad for heavier buildup. Rinse down the shower tile afterward and dry with a rag.

Mildew Removal
-
The shower's moist environment can lead mildew to develop. If this happens, soap a sponge or nylon scrubbing pad with pure white vinegar and scrub away the mildew as soon as you notice it. The vinegar breaks apart the mildew and also disinfects the area without harming tile or grout.
Cleaning Products to Avoid
-
Do not use bleach on shower tile that has grout surrounding it, as the bleach can damage and discolor grout. The dish soap and vinegar mixture will keep the tile looking its best.
