Middle Schools in New Mexico
The southwestern state of New Mexico is rich in culture and scenic attractions, including the famous Route 66 highway and old mining, railroad and ranching towns. State parks feature dormant volcanoes, ice caves, fossil sites and ancient lava flows, while famous New Mexico historical figures include Pancho Villa and Billy the Kid. The state is also home to a plethora of middle schools including those part of the Albuquerque and Santa Fe school systems.

Eagle Ridge Middle School

Eagle Ridge Middle School is located in Rio Rancho, and is part of the Rio Rancho school system. Curriculum covers the language arts, math, science and social studies. School activities include sports such as girls' and boys' basketball, theater including musicals, yearbook activities and school dances. The school also provides social workers to help children work through problems that interfere with learning, such as non-violent conflict mediation, behavior intervention and family assistance.
Roosevelt Middle School

Roosevelt Middle School in Tijeras is south of the historical Route 66 highway and 100 feet from the Tijeras Creek, a waterway that runs year-round. Curriculum focuses on math, language arts, science and social studies, while school sports include basketball and track and field. After-school clubs include a chess club, running club, choir club and Seekers Bible study club. The school features three computer labs, a technology lab and mobile labs in each sixth grade humanities classroom.

Eisenhower Middle School in Albuquerque is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools System. Courses include language arts, science, social studies, math, physical education, exploratory arts or band or orchestra. Sports include basketball and volleyball, while clubs include the band booster club, student council and the National Junior Honor Society.
Jimmy Carter Middle School

Jimmy Carter Middle School is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools system and features the standard middle school curriculum. The school features a large athletics department including volleyball, basketball, track and field, and soccer. The school features a uniform dress policy that states shirts must be solid color gray, blue, white or burgundy. Pants must be khaki, black or navy. Hats and sunglasses are not allowed to be worn inside the building.
Ortiz Middle School

Ortiz Middle School is the largest middle school in the Santa Fe Public Schools system. In addition to the four standard academic programs (math, language arts, science and social studies), the school provides instruction in English as a Second Language and Spanish Language Arts. Elective courses include visual arts, technology, band, orchestra, Mariachi, piano keyboarding, physical education and chorus. After school programs and activities include knitting and crochet club, basketball and baseball.
