Original Dating Tips
Working up the courage to ask out the person of your dreams is hard enough, but it's even harder to come up with original ways to make sure the first date is a success. You want your partner to have a good time so there will be a second date. You can make sure this happens by picking an imaginative date location and showing interest in your date.
-
Pick an Original Location
-
Everyone's used to the typical dinner-and-a-movie routine, and many dating prospects are probably wishing for something a bit more interesting. When you ask your date out, have an original and interesting location in mind for the event. It helps to know your date's interests. For example, if your date likes sports, tickets to a favorite team's game will be a hit. Consider going sailing, if you live near water, or have a pilot take the two of you for a romantic flight over the city. Another option would be inviting your date to tour a beer brewery or vineyard, with a private tasting afterward.
Inexpensive, Creative Date Ideas
-
Even if you don't have the money to go on an expensive date, you and your partner can still have fun. Consider having a picnic meal in a park at sunset. Pack a bottle of wine, two glasses and a few candles to add even more romance to the date. Many art, history and science museums offer a free admission day. You and your date can view and talk about the exhibits, which can provide hours of entertainment. If the two of you like helping others, volunteer at a soup kitchen, shelter or local mission. Not only is this a free and engaging activity, but you are also helping the needy in your community.

Making Conversation
-
It's not uncommon for people to run out of things to say during a date. This can indicate boredom and disinterest, and should be avoided as much as possible, especially on the first date. To compensate for gaps in conversation, some people choose to talk about themselves. Instead, ask your date original questions, such as favorite vacation spots or childhood TV show, or ask about pet peeves. Even one of these questions can spark an interesting and lengthy conversation, and you and your partner will feel closer for having shared this information.
End the Date Honestly
-
When the check comes, it can be difficult to figure out who is paying for what. Whether you're a man or a woman, if the other person asked you out, offer to split the bill for your dinner or entertainment. If you're feeling generous, you may even offer to pick up the entire tab. No matter how you divide it, or if the other person insists on paying for everything, accept the decision gracefully.
When the evening is coming to a close, be honest with your date. Let the person know if you had a good time or if you thought that there was, unfortunately, no chemistry between the two of you. Such honesty, whichever way it goes, is typically appreciated in the long run.
