For a special occasion, event invitation or everyday sentiments, make your own greeting card. Fun greeting cards can be made at home with supplies from a craft store or discount store. Supplies used might include colored paper, card stock, paint, pens, stencils, stickers and rubber stamps. The options are endless for handmade greeting cards.

  1. Cupcake Birthday Card

    • Make a fun cupcake birthday card with 12-by-12-inch card stock in a cream color, mint-green card stock, brightly colored brads (in the scrapbook section), regular and wavy scissors, a glue stick and paper in brown, purple, yellow and red. Fold the cream card stock in half, then cut it in half to make a 6-inch card. Cut the green card stock about 1 inch smaller than the card you're making. Cut the brown paper 1/2 inch smaller than the green card stock, with the wavy scissors. Use the colored paper to cut out the cupcake including the frosting, cherry, whipped cream, flame and cupcake stem. Glue the cupcake onto the card, then glue the brads onto the cupcake to make sprinkles.

    Tea Party Card

    • For this card, you need 12-by-12-inch card stock, rose-colored paper, letter stickers, tea-themed stickers, cream paper, wavy scissors, regular scissors and a glue stick. Fold the turquoise card stock in half, then cut that in half to make a 6-inch card. Cut the rose-colored paper with wavy scissors, slightly smaller than the card size. Glue this paper to the front of the card. Cut out a table shape with the wavy scissors and table legs with the regular scissors. Glue these pieces to the card. Decorate the card with tea stickers, letter stickers and other party information.

    Spirograph Card

    • Create a greeting card using spirograph designs, as well as general craft supplies like metallic gel pens, watercolors, colored paper and rubber stamps. Draw a spirograph flower on white card stock and then paint the petals with red watercolors. Cut out the flower. Punch holes in the center of the flower. Number the back of each petal. Wind thread from petal No. 1 to No. 5, No. 5 to No. 2, No. 2 to No. 6 and so on until the reach the final petal and tape the thread to the back. Paste the spirograph flower to a card and decorate with letter stickers, metallic gel pens and rubber stamps.

    Henna Tattoo Card

    • A henna tattoo card is a fun card to make for an everyday card or special occasion. You'll need a henna stencil, brown dye ink pad, stencil brush, white card stock, brown ribbon and scissors. Dip the stencil brush into the ink pad and make a stencil onto the brown paper with the henna stencil. Peel off the stencil and pierce holes in the design to tie a bow with the ribbon. Cut around the stenciled design, leaving a border of about 1 inch. Glue the henna design to the white card stock and complete your card.
