Free Places to Have a Party

Free Places to Have a Party thumbnail
The great outdoors offers many free venues to stage a party.

Throwing or hosting a party can get expensive when you consider the cost of favors, food and drinks. In many cases, the venue itself can carry a steep price tag, which can cut into your budget and possibly diminish the fun. Finding a free place to party will not only save you money, but it will also allow you to better focus on the fun events of the day itself. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. The Park

    • City and state parks are great places to stage a party during the day. In fact, many have the basic necessities in place, such as pavilions, grills and bathrooms. It's important to research your local laws if you plan on having alcohol at the event, as many parks forbid it. Also, if your group is a large one, you may want to reserve a spot ahead of time by getting there early if the park is a popular, heavily trafficked spot.

    Private Residence

    • This may seem like an obvious choice, but there are a few creative spins you can put on the party. For instance, progressive parties, where each drink and course is served at a different residence, are a fun option. Also, consider having the party at the home of your friend or relative with the nicest place, in order to get the most out of the evening with amenities such as pools, hot tubs or big screen TV's.

    A Clearing in the Woods

    • An open field or clearing in the woods offers similar features that parks do, but generally have more lax rules and regulations. If you live near a rural area and get permission from the land owner, this is a great venue that can even become a camping expedition if you and the attendees so desire. If there is a pond nearby, fishing is also a good way for all ages to whittle away the day.

    The Beach

    • Beaches are great for tropical themed parties and, depending on how crowded it is, usually offer much more space than other outdoor public venues. Plus, the atmosphere is great no matter what time of day it is, which adds flexibility with regards to not having to watch the clock or be wary of park hours.
