Unique Ideas for Group Halloween Costumes
Most people celebrate Halloween by dressing up in a variety of costumes, ranging from frightening and gruesome to clever and comical. A fun way to get your whole group of friends involved in the festivities is to think of a common theme for all your costumes to follow. These ideas can be generic -- such as everyone dressing like a police officer or combat soldier -- but the more specific your ideas are, the more recognition you are bound to receive.

Baseball Furies
-
This fictional street gang was made popular by the movie "The Warriors," based on the graphic novel written by Sol Yurick. It is generally an idea reserved for a group of males, but women certainly aren't restricted from joining. Each member should wear a blank baseball uniform and paint his face like a character in the movie. Most simply, have a a base color that covers the face and a different color around the eyes and lips. Each member should also carry a wooden baseball bat as an accessory to complete the costume.
Village People
-
The Village People were an über-popular disco group in the 1970s. Their act consisted of six men dressed in a variety of costumes that can be easily mimicked. Costumes include the cowboy, the Indian, the police officer, the naval officer, the construction worker and the motorcycle man. These costumes were generally skimpy and revealing, so don't be shy in showing a little skin. Both men and women can enjoy this costume idea.

News Team
-
The news team from the Will Ferrel movie "Anchorman" can be a fun idea for a group of four men and a woman. Each man can dress as one of the distinct anchors Ron Burgandy, Champ Kind, Brian Fantana and Brick Tamland, while the woman can dress as Veronica Corningstone. A group of four women and a man can also render their own version of the news team by swapping genders for the costumes.
Reservoir Dogs
-
The Quentin Tarantino movie "Reservoir Dogs" depicts a gang of men dressed in black ties, jackets and pants with a white shirt. Each member is given an alias name of a color, such as Mr. Pink and Mr. White. This can be an easy costume for both men and women, and each member of the costume group can wear different color ties to denote which character they are. Mr. Brown can wear a brown tie; Mr. Orange, an orange one; and so forth.
The Spice Girls
-
The Spice Girls were a British pop group in the late 1990s and early 2000s consisting of five members. Each member had particular outfits and temperament consistent with their names -- Scary Spice, Posh Spice, Ginger Spice, Baby Spice and Sporty Spice. Each individual in your group can take on the appearance of one member of the singing group. Though there are only five members, you can always create your own style of spice girl if there are more than five in your group of friends.
The Brady Bunch
-
"The Brady Bunch" was a television show in the late 1960s and early 1970s that consisted of nine members -- three girls, three boys, a father, a wife and a female maid named Alice. This can be a fun idea for a group of men and women of varying ages to collaborate on together. Each member of your group can take on the personality and costume of each Brady and speak in the popular, "far-out" language of the time period.
