Everyone has special memories of the holidays and making those time-honored crafts as a kid. Kid Friendly Ornaments
-
The art of making holiday crafts is part family tradition and sometimes part necessity. Your kids can make their own decorations instead of having you spend money for store bought ornaments. Glue together five or so standard red and white swirled peppermints to form a circle. Embellish them with red candy coated chocolates or cinnamon candies. Add a ribbon for a hanger and you have sweet ornament for the tree.
Using Items From Nature
-
By using natural items like pine cones, acorns and holly leaves, it is possible to put together interesting wall and tree hangers using hot glue and a little imagination. Spray small unopened pine cones with silver or gold paint and glue a hanger from an old ornament on the top for a quick and shiny bobble.

Ideas For Gifts
-
Try simple crafts for young children. Paint macaroni green and glue it to a paper plate in the shape of a Christmas tree. Cut it out and add a ribbon hanger. Or make an ornament for grandma using a picture of her grandchild glued in the middle of a snowflake-shaped doily sprinkled with glitter. Keeping the craft simple and easy to accomplish will ensure it stays fun.
Crafts Using Recycled Items
-
Going green with craft projects is also a good way to teach young kids about recycling and reusing. CDs you no longer use can be transformed into hanging ornaments for the tree after gluing on some jeweled beads. You can also cut them into small tiles and glue them onto an old ornament that is showing its age for a disco ball look.
