Dinner Party Invitations
-
Set a suitable date and invite the guests via telephone or mail at least two weeks prior to the event. This ensures that you have plenty of time to arrange and address any last-minute details. If you will be hosting a formal dinner party, have invitation cards printed or purchase readymade cards from a party supply store. These facilities sell invitation cards meant for different events and you may find one suitable for your gathering. Once you have acquired the required number of invitation cards, write down the name of each guest on the invitation card with pen or print it using your home printer.
Menu
-
When deciding on the menu for your party, keep the preferences of your guests in mind. If there will be kids attending, add French fries, burgers and ice cream to the menu. Alternatively, present your adult guests with wine and other cocktails before serving the food. Make salads a part of the menu, and prepare variety of dishes. If possible, offer after-dinner tea or coffee.

Decor
-
Décor plays an important role in determining the tone of your party. You can use flowers, candles and even draperies to decorate your house. The quality of decoration shows the effort you have put in for your guests, and also helps set a mood. If it is a themed party to celebrate some specific occasion, you can arrange and decorate the house to suit the theme; for example, for a birthday dinner party, you could display balloons, colorful hangings and pictures of the birthday boy.
Preparing Lists
-
Make a written list of all the things that you may require for the dinner party. Jot down every little detail that you can think of, including alcohol and other beverages, ice, fruit, meat, cheese, olives and nuts. Besides food items, add serving-ware as well, such as disposable plates and glasses, toothpicks and napkins, and decoration items, such as table candles and flowers.
Housecleaning
-
A clean and tidy house offers a pleasant environment for your guests. Create a housecleaning schedule for the day before the party. Make a list of the areas of the house that you think require cleaning, such as the hallway, living room, dining hall, bathroom and the kitchen. Focus on cleaning every corner of these parts of the house through dusting, tidying and vacuuming. You can even ask a neighbor or a friend to help with the cleaning
