The Best Baby Gifts for Boys

The Best Baby Gifts for Boys thumbnail
Baby boys can experience visual and sensory development through toys.

Safe, age appropriate toys can provide baby boys with visual and sensory development as early as one month old. Colors, shapes, sounds and a variety of textures teach and reinforce these elements. Some of the toys are for playing, while others sooth babies to sleep as well as engage them in learning activities.

  1. Ocean Wonders Take-Along Projector Soother

    • The Ocean Wonders projector soothes babies to sleep with a glowing picture of a starfish surrounded by fish on the ceiling. As baby grows, another scene can be used with more colors and sea creatures, including a whale, octopus and fish. The projector can be tilted to shift the angle and size of the image. Classical music plays along with the light show, or the tune can be switched to sounds of the sea or to be without any sounds. The Ocean Wonders projector is for newborns and older babies and is made by Fisher-Price.

    Jumbo Go Go Go

    • The Jumbo Go Go Go, made by Ohio Art, is a thick, cushiony car with fat purple tires, a toy storage trunk and a steering wheel that beeps when touched. Babies can safely sit inside the car, which will keep them in an upright sitting position, and play with the removable dashboard, horn lights and listen to the music. Baby's drink can stay in the bottle holder while he watches the red dog on the steering wheel and plays with the baby-proof mirror. The Jumbo Go Go Go is recommended for babies six months and older and is machine washable.

    Whoozit Shooting Star Rattle

    • The Whoozit Shooting Star rattle recently won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award for creative design. The rattle is bursting with colors, which will hold the eye of any baby. Tiny balls roll around inside the star-shaped rattle for visual stimulation. Babies can safely chew on each rounded edge and look at the smiley face in the center of the star. The Whoozit Shooting Star is made by Manhattan Toy and is for babies three months and older.

    Fishbowl Fill and Spill

    • Babies six months and older can place four sea creatures into a fishbowl and drop them back out over and over. The mesh bottom fishbowl is made from phthalate-free plastic and is colored a light blue to resemble water. A starfish, seahorse, fish and octopus are included in the group for babies to chew on, squeeze or drop in the bowl. Each toy makes a different sound, such as a crinkle, a rattle and a jingle. The different textures and colors will help encourage sensory and visual development. The toy is made by Melissa and Doug.
