List of Fundraising Ideas for Boy Scouts
Fundraising is a critical process to keep Boy Scout troops up and running, but these projects can be an ordeal for many parents who already have many other commitments on their plate. However, fundraising doesn't have to be an inconvenience. With some concrete planning and delegation, as well as creative ideas, your fundraiser should be a success with minimal hassle.

Campfire Treat Sale
-
Unlike the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts don't have an annual cookie sale as a go-to for raising money. Although the cookie arena is already taken, there are plenty of other snacks you can use to entice customers. Capitalize on the ruggedness of the Boy Scout image by offering campfire treats to your customers. Choose a date and time that is convenient for everyone, and choose a high-traffic location to set up shop. For instance, find out about a popular local sporting event that is bound to draw large audiences. Depending on your budget, select a few items like s'mores and hot dogs to grill on-site; keep prices low to attract more hungry patrons.
Lawn Services
-
Take advantage of the Scouts' knowledge of the great outdoors by starting up a lawn care initiative. Offer services that are reflective of the boys' age and experience level. For instance, younger boys could help plant flowers or rake leaves while older Scouts mow lawns or clean out gutters. Stick to using clients such as neighbors, friends and relatives as much as possible, but if you feel the need to expand your business, publicize these services. An adult supervisor or Scout leader should always be present during these service sessions in the case of injury or any conflict that might arise.

Snow Shoveling
-
If you live in a particularly snowy region or see at least a little snowfall each winter, keep your shovels and your Scouts at the ready. Divide and conquer after a snowstorm by sending groups of two or three to the homes of relatives, neighbors and friends, and charge a reasonable rate depending on the driveway's size. To expedite your services and to ensure a profit, register your clients well in advance of a snowstorm; this way, there will be no confusion about who is coming to help shovel out.
Pet Care
-
Start up a pet care service using your troop members as walkers, washers, sitters or any other number of pet services your clients might require. Many people have to leave their animals alone all day while they go off to work or other activities, so take advantage of this as a business venture by sending the boys over after school to relieve, groom or play with the clients' animals. This enterprise might be more successful in the summer when the boys can go over midday to care for the pets or to pet sit while the owners take a vacation.
