Micro braiding hairstyles are a popular hairstyle because the braids are comfortable and easily managed. Micro braids are often used by people with unruly hair to get a natural looking hairstyle. Micro braids are braids made if small groups of hair normally in rows or designs on the scalp. Many micro braid hairstyles also include weaves to make the hair longer. Cornrows

Cornrows are the classic micro braid hairstyle. The braids are made thin and flat so that the lay on the head. The rows are made straight back from the front of the scalp to the nape of the neck and on to the end of the hair. Cornrows are designed to stay in the hair for weeks.
Long Sleek Look

This hairstyle is made with a side or center part. These often include weaves to give the hair a longer look. Unlike cornrows, these braids are not braided on the scalp. Each braid hangs from the scalp. The long, sleek look is worn straight down or in a pony tail.

Curly Long Braids

With this hairstyle the hair is micro braided and the ends are rolled into curls. The curly long braids are often pulled into a half-up half-down hairdo or in up hairdos. Women getting micro braids for formal occasions such as weddings and proms often prefer the fancy look of the curly long braids.
Half Micro Braid

The half micro braid is created by braiding only the hair on the scalp and leaving the longer hair free for curls or a straightener. This hairstyle can use a pony tail holder or clip at the base of the scalp where the braids end. Some women have this hairstyle braided sideways so that the long unbraided hair is located at the side of the head.
Design Micro braid

The design micro braid is a hairstyle in which the braids make a design on the head. Cornrows are used with this hairstyle and the designs vary depending on how the wearer wants to wear it. These designs can wrap around the head, create designs such as hearts or stars, and be braided into up hairdos if desired.
