Connecticut offers an upbeat nightlife for locals and visitors. For people looking to jump back in time to the 1970s and early 1980s and work up a Saturday Night Fever, Connecticut has a few disco-friendly options. Although there are no strictly all-disco dance clubs, there are clubs and bars that host disco-themed nights and play disco music with a little modern pop as well, to cater to all tastes.

The Russell: Old School Saturdays

The Russell is an upscale, classy bar that knows how to have fun after the sun goes down. It has multiple stories and a ground floor with large windows that open up to make the main floor patio-like. Visitors describe the Russell’s atmosphere as a Caribbean beach hotel, tucked away from the outside world, according to the bar’s website.

Every Saturday night, the Russell hosts “Old School Saturdays” where the best of retro disco and soul music is played. After the restaurant closes, the disco party begins from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. with a live DJ spinning the best old school beats from the disco era, with a little soul and reggae thrown in the mix.

Studio 960: Room 960

On Thursday nights, Hartford’s hip club Room 960 travels back in time and transforms into Studio 960. Every Thursday is Shag Frenzy with live DJ Sanchez spinning the best disco tracks from back in the day and some disco inspired tunes that have hit the airwaves since. Clubbers can bring the bell-bottoms and John Travolta moves to party at Studio 960 for a five dollar cover. VIP reservations are available with pre-paid drink options.

Club Arcadia provides an exclusive clubbing experience. It is a membership-based nightclub that donates partial funds to worthy causes like Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The club has also been known to draw celebrities and professional athletes onto its dance floor. Music is spun by DJ Scott E. Shelton who has worked with artists like Sean “Diddy” Combs. The inside of the club is just like a disco, with a massive dance floor and mirror disco balls glittering from the ceiling. Dress code is in effect at this party club, so dress to impress and get ready to dance up an inferno to disco beats with some house and pop hits along the way.
