Kindergarten students can learn through file folder games.

File folder games are games designed to help students learn subjects like spelling, vocabulary and similar rules without high expenses. Teachers can use printable games pasted to the file folder to give kindergartners activities which are fun and teach a lesson. The types of games vary depending on the lessons the teacher wants to give, but teachers are able to get a wide range of games for their kindergarten class.

  1. Alphabet Games

    • The alphabet file folder games vary widely between styles and appearances, but have the common game theme of learning the alphabet. The games might include the order of letters, letters at the beginning of a word or picture and letter matching. The games start with basic alphabet skills, such as learning the letters, and then move into more complicated alphabet skills for later in the school year.

    Math Games

    • Kindergartners are starting to learn math and counting skills as well as numbers. Teachers can use printable math file folder games to help teach students about math. Skills might range from learning the differences between odd and even numbers, simple addition problems and even the written spelling of the numbers.

    Phonics Games

    • Kindergartners start learning phonics from the beginning of the year when they learn ideas like "A is for apple." Phonics games take the basic skills learned at the beginning of kindergarten and gradually expand the ideas. The file folder games might include ideas like rhyming words or determining if a sound is a word or non-word sounds.

    Months and Time Games

    • In kindergarten, the idea of time is still abstract or new. Students aren't yet ready for games relating to telling time on a clock, which is usually learned in first and second grade, but the students are ready for ideas like the months of the year, holidays in the months and similar ideas. File folder games can include games about holidays, the months of the year and large events in the months.
