About the Brewery

The Yuengling Brewery is considered "America's oldest beer brewery." The initial facility was built in Pennsylvania in 1829 and although the Tampa Bay location has been around only since 1999, it's a part of the Yunegling family of breweries. These breweries produced more than 2 million barrels of beers in 2009. Beer varieties include lager; light lager; Black and Tan; Porter; Lord Chesterfield Ale; Premium and Light. It's available regionally in 13 U.S. states. On the tour, guests will see how Yuengling beer is brewed and bottled.

The Yuengling Brewery holds tours Monday through Saturday at designated times. The tours are guided and take visitors through the history of the brewery and through detailed information about the brewing process. This all-ages tour lasts about one hour and 15 minutes, and guests are welcome to sample the beer at the end of the tour. Guests under 21 are provided root beer. Guests can also visit the brewery gift shop, which is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

All Yuengling Brewery tourists must wear completely closed shoes for their safety on the tour. No open-soled shoes -- such as sandals, clogs and Crocs -- are permitted. Guests are allowed to take photographs on the tour. Both point-and-shoot cameras and video cameras are permitted. The factory is not handicap-accessible. It's also recommended that groups of over 15 call ahead to reserve space on the tour they wish to attend.

Raymond James Stadium is the home of the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although it's not perceived as a factory, it does offer guests a behind the scenes tours of its facility, which include the heavy equipment and inner workings that help operate the stadium. The one-hour tour also includes visits to the locker rooms and football field. Tours are offered at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Admission is $6 for adults, but the tour is free to children 5 and under, and to those visiting as part of a city or county leadership group.
