Live in the moment and allow your date see your carefree side.

You may be searching for the right guy, but end up with dates that go nowhere. You may fear that you will spend your life alone with your cats. Before giving up, however, take a long look at yourself. Are there things you can do differently when dating guys? You need to be strong and believe in yourself. Focus on liking yourself, and remind yourself of your good qualities. Look in the mirror before a date, and tell yourself how beautiful you are. You will meet a great guy. Give yourself time, and enjoy yourself on your dates.

  1. Get Advice From a Friend

    • Friends can be helpful during this time in your life. You may need to see yourself through a friend's eyes. Ask your friend if she has any advice or notices a particular behavior. She may see you being too clingy and thus turning off guys. Make a point of getting together once a week and discussing what is going on in your dating life.

    Show Interest in Him

    • When dating, you don't want to come across as self-absorbed. Make an effort to ask him questions. Show that you care about his interests. Suggest something he would enjoy on a date, such as attending a sporting event, for example. You need to show that you can have a good time and have a range of interests. He will enjoy your company and want to spend more time with you.

    Show Your Independence

    • When dating, allow the person to see you have outside interests. Do not become clingy. Talk about your passions, such as singing or dancing. Do not monopolize the conversation all night, but let him know you do have a life and you can live just fine without him. That takes the pressure off. He actually sees you as a well-rounded individual and wants to get closer with you.

    Show Happiness

    • You need to exude happiness. Do not whine about past relationships. You will turn a potential boyfriend off. Complain to your friends. That is why they are there. Speak about positive things on your date. Show enthusiasm for life. Do not bore him with ways your ex-boyfriend hurt you. You want your date to enjoy spending time with you and hopefully want to see you again. He will not enjoy hearing you complain all night long about your hard life or past relationships.
