Christmas Gift for Low Income Kid
Shopping for a Christmas gift for a low-income child does not have to be difficult. Whether you are shopping for a child you know or you are helping a nonprofit that provides gifts to needy children, many gifts are appropriate. Consider choosing something that the child might need, such as clothing. On the other hand, select something that his parents likely could not provide, such as a toy or game.

Clothing
-
Choose clothing items as a gift for low-income children. Basic clothes that he can wear to school, such as blue jeans and T-shirts, are a good possibility. In most areas, the temperatures will be cold around Christmas time. Make sure the child is able to stay warm enough and choose a jacket or coat, a sweatshirt, thick socks, snow boots, gloves and a scarf.
Toys
-
Parents who don't make too much money likely spend most of their money on household necessities, such as bills and food. There may not be too much left over for luxuries like toys. Make sure that the kids have a fun Christmas gift by choosing a toy. Select a board game, such as Candy Land or Monopoly, especially if the child has siblings. Other toys could be dolls, building blocks, action figures or video games. Consider an imagination station, like a kitchen or a vanity where she can pretend to do things.

Books
-
Books are good gift options for low-income children because not only are they educational, but books can help show a child what opportunities are out there. Choose picture books or coloring books for small children. When you are shopping for older children, consider selecting a couple books from a classic series, such as Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.
Art Supplies
-
Help the child find her creative side with some art supplies. Purchase an easel, along with construction paper, paints and markers. Fill a gift basket with other art supplies items, such as scissors, crayons and glue sticks. A gift card to a local community center for art lessons is another good addition to this gift.
