Carved Candles

Carved candles are often expensive to purchase and considered luxurious. But plain pillar candles are much less expensive to purchase and with the Dremel power tool you can carve candles with custom designs. Draw a pattern on a piece of paper and lay it over the side of the candle. Trace the outline into the side of the candle with a pencil. Follow the pattern that has been impressed into the side of the candle with the Dremel tool and a carving head. You can add an accent by coating the outside of the candle with a contrasting paint color to make the carving stand out.

Etched glass bottles or vases can serve as decoration. The etchings can commemorate a special occasion or just be a whimsical design. The Dremel stylus and the accessory bits allow for the creation of fine lines in the etching. Draw the pattern to be etched on to the glass with a fine tip permanent marker. Hold the glass object steady with one hand and trace the pattern with the Dremel carving tool with the other hand. After the carving is finished, remove any remaining permanent marker drawings with nail polish remover.

The Dremel power tool can help turn this blank panel into a work of art. Trace the pattern to be carved on the blank panel with a graphite pencil. Carve into the back of the chair with the Dremel and one of the accessory tips while following the lines of the pattern. Use a Dremel sanding tip to smooth the edges of the carving once the pattern is complete.
