Advent Activity Sheets for Children
Currently Advent is a time for families to prepare for Christmas and to learn about the history of Christmas. Traditionally, Advent was a time of a three- to six-week fast in which a feast on Christmas day ended the fasting. Today, most people give up one thing they crave to honor the traditional fast. Children are taught the traditions and history of Advent through classes at church and teaching from their families. Does this Spark an idea?

DLTK offers a 24-page printable Advent book. This book tells the story of Christmas once it's all colored and put together. Each page contains a biblical quote from Matthew or Luke and a picture to color. It is designed for one page to be read each day before Christmas with the last page being read on Christmas Eve. DLTK suggests that on Christmas day, the entire family sit down together to read the entire book.
Advent Maze and Word Decoding
-
Calvary William Sport offers an Advent maze print out. The maze features the Three Wise Men who need to reach Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus at the end of the maze. This would be a good activity for young Sunday school classes or for a supporting activity for parents teaching their children about Advent. Calvary Kids Pages has an activity sheet on which the kids decode the message that the angel Gabriel gave to Mary. This would be appropriate for children ages six to 10 years.
