There are several alternative uses for cloth diapers.

Cloth diapers may seem old fashioned, but they can still be used in novel ways. Cloth diapers save you money and help reduce environmental waste, but are also useful for more than their main task. Cloth diapers can be used for everything from cleaning windows to mopping your brow after a workout. If you have something that needs to be absorbed, cleaned or cushioned, a cloth diaper can usually do the job.

  1. Cooking and Cleanup

    • Cloth diapers can be used in the kitchen, as well as for cleaning up messes in other parts of the house. Use cloth diapers as heat buffers when handling hot pots or sizzling skillets. If you are crafty, cut them and use them to sew your own oven mitts. They can also be used as dish cloths or disposable mop and floor scrubbing cloths. Other uses include wiping up counter spills, washing your car, shining and buffing your shoes and washing windows.

    More Baby Duty

    • Cloth diapers do not just have to be used for changing babies. Other baby-related uses include turning them into wash cloths and burp cloths, or using them to clean up the inevitable mishaps that occur during potty training. When changing diapers in public, you can also use cloth diapers as changing pads.

    Crafts

    • If you are an artist, use cloth diapers to express your creative side. Cye them various colors and hang them in the baby's room or in other areas around your home. Cut and sew them into diapers or clothing for your child's dolls.

    Pet Care

    • Cloth diapers can be used to clean up your pet's accidents. They can also be used to line your pet's cage or your dog's bed, or to diaper a dog that is injured and unable to walk outside to use the bathroom. After bath time, use cloth diapers to dry your pet.

    First Aid Care

    • Cloth diapers make great additions to any first aid kit, as they can absorb blood and other bodily fluids. Use them as a clean bandage in a pinch, or to hold ice to the body to reduce swelling or pain.

    Packaging

    • When moving or shipping fragile items, use cloth diapers to cushion breakables. Wrap them around china plates, glassware, vases, lamps and knick knacks to keep items from smashing into one another.
