The InterContinental in Boston is a landmark, luxury hotel on Boston's historic waterfront at the base of the financial district. It's a short walk to a number of Boston attractions including Faneuil Hall, Chinatown, and Beacon Hill. A conversation with InterContinental Boston's Concierge, Allison Karpowicz, helped narrow down restaurant recommendations within a 10-minute walk of the hotel.   1. In The Hotel

    • Among a number of choices in the the hotel, Miel Brasserie Provençale is Boston's first Provence-themed brasserie. It serves organic ingredients and focuses on herbs, lavender, honey and olive oil in its cuisine, which is based on the Côte d'Azur region of France. Your meal is served in the dining room or outdoors overlooking Fort Point Channel.

    Casual Restaurants

    • Mr. Dooley's, on 77 Broad Street, offers Irish pub fare, and is a local favorite for a pint and reasonably-priced good food. It serves an authentic Irish breakfast, and has a full lunch and dinner menu. Live music and comedy acts are offered on weekends. Mr. Dooley's burgers have been voted best in Boston by local media, according to their website.

      Umbria Prime, at 295 Franklin Street, is a classic steakhouse featuring corn and grass-fed prime Angus beef that's cooked in a brick oven. In addition to beef, there's an extensive menu of other offerings including pasta, fresh seafood, chops and hearty side dishes. During the late night hours, the top floors transform into a night club with a lounge with a vodka bar.

    Seafood

    • Chart House, at 60 Long Warf, is in a 1760s brownstone building, and serves seafood, steaks and desserts. Among entrée choices are Snapper Hemingway, Shrimp Fresca and slow roasted prime rib, all served with an extensive collection of fine wines and whiskies. Try the hot chocolate lava cake.

      Legal Seafood at 255 State Street, Long Wharf, is five blocks away from the hotel and you can watch chefs at work in the open kitchen. In summer you can dine on a patio. The restaurant features an aquarium and lobster tank that keeps kids entertained and it's known for its New England clam chowder.

      KingFish Hall, in South Market Building, Quincy Market, offers a varied cuisine with a funky but casual atmosphere and is owned by chef Todd English. It features traditional New England classics, such as local shellfish and ceviches.

    French

    • Sel de la Terre, at 255 State Street in Long Wharf, is next to the New England Aquarium. This country French restaurant on the waterfront, five blocks from the hotel, serves rustic food made from local ingredients.

      Les Zygomates at, 129 South Street, is a hip French bistro and wine bar with live jazz music nightly. This moderately-priced restaurant serves lunch during the week and dinner six nights a week with a full course fixed-price menu.

      Radius, at 8 High Street, is an expensive contemporary French hot spot, about a five-minute walk from the hotel. Chef and owner Michael Schlow offers a seven- or eight-course tasting menu if you want to go all out.

    Italian

    • Sportello, at 348 Congress Street, is a mid-priced Italian-themed restaurant offering a variety of Italian favorites and steak served with top wines. Chef Barbara Lynch's specialties include fresh pastas, polenta, housemade breads and simple soups. Finish off your meal with her signature chocolate bar.
