If you follow employee regulations and rise above what most employers do for their workers, your employees will respect those efforts. Always act as a model for the behavior you want your employees to follow, and deal with issues right away instead of letting them fester. Last, you must do all you can to improve communication. Give employees a way to get information and have discourses even with company higher-ups. Include employees in as many meetings and discussions as possible, using representatives when necessary.

    • Probably the most important element of improving employee relations is the establishment of clearly defined standards and policies. Employees cannot follow rules or do their jobs properly if what you want is ambiguous. Write out your employee relations philosophy and company objectives in an employee manual or handbook so employees know how their behavior aligns with company principles. In the handbook, also detail things like dress, use of Internet and time off. Provide whatever training is necessary to help employees meet the standards you set.
