Wedding Day Prayers for Dinner
The reception dinner is an important event as it marks the newlywed couple's first meal together. Traditionally, the honor of saying grace on the wedding day is given to the religious elder officiating at the ceremonies (i.e., the priest). However, the wedding meal prayer can be recited by the bride, groom or other honored guest.

Considerations
-
When leading a wedding day prayer, the tone of the blessing should always be one of gratitude and conscious thanksgiving. In addition to the union of the couple, particular remarks can be made to honor the family of the bride or bridegroom, particularly family members who are currently experiencing hardship. And don't forget to give thanks for the food and fellowship you share at this auspicious meal.
Delivery
-
Before the meal begins, give consideration to the delivery of the prayer. Assume that large reception halls will require the use of amplification equipment. Ask the disc-jockey or band to permit you to use their microphone when necessary. Guests may join hands while standing along the walls enabling the entire party to join in a single prayer. Alternately assign each table a prayer leader who will repeat the main prayer for the small audience.
