Wedding Flowers and Bridal Bouquet Ideas
Although brides once carried bouquets of flowers down the aisle to ward off evil spirits or to disguise foul odors, the tradition exists more for decoration than for practicality today. Consider the weight of the bouquet as you create it, as the bride may hold the bouquet for a long time. If you are using fresh flowers in your bouquet, pick flowers that are appropriate for the climate.

Artificial Flower Bouquet
-
Visit a florist to view a sample of artificial flowers. These flowers can withstand temperature changes and they can be preserved after the wedding for a keepsake, unlike most real flowers. Decorate the stems of artificial flowers with floral tape to disguise wires. Stems can be hidden by using the Biedermeier bouquet, in which rings of different-colored flowers are arranged in a tight, circular pattern. The fan bouquet, in which the tops of flowers peek out from atop a decorative plastic frame, can also hide stems of artificial flowers.
Bridal Bouquet Ideas

Flowers such as blue, pink or white hydrangeas are commonly used in bridal bouquets. Tulips and carnations can also be included in bouquets. Yellow flowers often denote friendship, while pink flowers denote happiness. Red is the color of passion and white can mean purity and innocence. Ask a florist about other color meanings. Inform the florist about your desired color scheme. These flowers can be compiled into the muff bouquet, in which the bride's hands rest inside of a muff and the flowers are glued atop of it. The cascading bouquet, in which a rounded bouquet descends into a teardrop shape at the bottom, is also growing in popularity.

Flower Wedding Centerpieces
-
Consider the color scheme for your wedding. If the colors are red and white, a bride may create floral centerpieces that feature a red and white rose mixed in with baby's breath. If you are having a beach-themed wedding, place some sand into a glass vase and place coral inside. You can also incorporate flowers into your decorations. Scatter fresh flower petals over tabletops for emphasis, or drop flower petals into tea light candle holders. Fill candle holders with water.
Simple Bouquets
-
Bouquets of single flowers can make a powerful statement and they can be easy for the bride and bridesmaids to carry. Bridesmaids may carry carnations, tulips or lilies while the bride carries a single rose. The bride and bridesmaids can also choose corsages decorated with greenery, baby's breath and roses.
