Celebrating birthdays in the classroom is a great way to bring fun into the learning experience and get kids to bond and enjoy spending time with their classmates. Although it can seem daunting sometimes, coming up with ideas for a classroom birthday celebration is simple. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations
-
Invitations don't have to be anything fancy. A simple printed out letter will do just fine to send home to your students' parents. If you want to make an activity out of it, have your kids fold colorful cardstock or construction paper in half and make their own invitations to take home using stickers, coloring crayons and any other art supplies you have around the classroom. Invitations should be sent home at least a week or two before the party so parents can know well ahead of time if they are expected to provide anything for the party.
Decorations
-
Classroom party decorations should be kept to a minimum so that the children aren't distracted during their regular lessons. A few helium balloons are fine, and you can put out birthday-themed plates, napkins and cups once the party starts. Party hats are always a fun addition that kids of all ages enjoy.

Food and Drink
-
Treats that can be served with little to no mess are always preferred in the classroom setting. Make sure you are aware of any food allergies before deciding what food will be served. Cookies, brownies and cupcakes work well because they are single serving-sized and will limit the mess. Soda and juice are classroom party favorites when it comes to beverages.
Games
-
Your choice of entertainment for your classroom party will depend on the age range of your students. Younger children will enjoy musical chairs, London Bridge, and Simon Says. Older children have fun playing classroom versions of Jeopardy and partaking in scavenger hunts.
