List of RC Model Plane Manufacturers

List of RC Model Plane Manufacturers thumbnail
RC planes are self propelled and controlled through a radio frequency.

Radio controlled planes allow people with a love for aviation to buy, build and fly miniature planes. For many, this is a safe and easy to afford hobby that still allows them to revel in their love of flying. RC plane clubs exist in major cities across the country where enthusiasts can meet and fly their planes together. Some do this just for fun, while others participate in everything from races to aerobatics competitions.

  1. E-Flite

    • E-flite is an RC plane manufacturer that makes both helicopters and airplanes for the model flying consumer. E-flite makes seven different categories of planes, ranging from trainer models for those just starting out to sport models for those who are competitive RC flyers. The company also sells a large selection of individual parts, such as motors and batteries, and tools for those who want to service, build, or customize their own planes. E-flite's best selling sport plane in early 2011 was the Carbon-Z YAK 54 BNF.

    Hobby Zone

    • Hobby Zone classifies a plane in terms of the shape that it is in when you purchase it. The company offers ready-to-fly (RTF), almost-ready-to-fly (ARF), Bind-N-Fly (BNF) and plug-and-play models. Gas engines, electric motors and RC field supplies are also sold through Hobby Zone, which states that its most popular model of plane is the Super Cub LP RTF. RTF planes are ready to fly right out of the box, and this beginner model is easy to control, making it a good starter plane. It also features "Anti-Crash-Control," a special system designed by Hobby Zone to make sure that beginners do not crash their planes.

    Hobbico

    • Hobbico encompasses two companies. It makes the Hobbico planes and the Flyzone line of RTF planes. They make one line of planes known as the "switch" planes. This allows flyers to adjust the wing configuration of the plane. The higher positioning of the wings is good for training and learning to fly. The lower position allows the flyer more control and the ability to perform aerobatic moves usually reserved for dedicated sport flyers.

    Parkzone

    • Parkzone makes planes in all the major RC categories including the micro size of planes. Parkzone's Ultra Micro crafts are marketed toward people who want to enjoy flying without needing an entire large field to fly in. Planes in that line include the Mosquito MK VI, the Sukhoi SU-26xp and the J-3 Cub. They offer 17 different Bind-N-Fly planes and nine RTF models as of February 2011. The company also offers aerobatic jet models that use a brushless ducted fan engine for propulsion.
