What Are the Most Played Baby Shower Games?

What Are the Most Played Baby Shower Games? thumbnail
Baby showers offer opportunities to socialize and play games.

More than four million babies are born each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Babies 'R' Us reports its customers register nearly one million baby showers annually. It's difficult to know which games guests play at every baby shower, but baby experts note several games for their popularity and frequent use. Mix some of these games with new ones at your next shower. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Mom's Measurement

    • Have everyone guess the expectant mother's measurement around the fullest part of her belly. As the host unrolls a spool of ribbon, each guest will tell her where to cut the ribbon to fit around the mom's belly. The person whose ribbon comes closest to the mom's measurement gets a prize.

    Predict Baby's Birthday

    • The mom-to-be's doctor may have assigned a due date, but babies have minds of their own. Pass around a calendar and ask each guest to write her name on the day she thinks the baby will be born. For an extra challenge, ask guests to predict the time the baby will arrive. (This game only works if the mom-to-be plans a natural delivery.)

    Don't Say "Baby"

    • Give each guest 10 safety pins and instruct her not to say the word "baby." When a guest says the word, the person who catches the mistake takes one of her safety pins. The person with the most safety pins at the end of the shower wins a prize. A variation is to challenge your guests not to cross their legs when they sit down. If they do, the guest catching this takes away a safety pin.

    Estimation Games

    • Put a variety of baby-related objects, such as diaper pins, cotton swabs, pacifiers and small toys in a glass jar. Count the items before the shower. Ask each guest to guess how many things are in the jar. The person with the closest estimate wins a prize.
