Practical Dating Tips
According to an article in "Psychology Today," the number of women living alone is 14.6 million, and 10.3 million men are single. That's a large dating pool. Don't be afraid to dive into the dating game. You don't have to be alone. You just need to apply a few practical tips. You will meet interesting people while dating. Some may turn into good friends. You may even get lucky and meet the love of your life.
-
Get Out of the House
-
You will never meet someone unless you go out. Don't sit around the house feeling sorry for yourself. That is easy to do, but it only makes you feel more lonely and possibly depressed. Make a habit of going for a cup of coffee each morning. Go to a different coffee shop each day. You never know who you might meet. Join a club that interests you, such as a cooking or biking club.
Take Care of Your Looks
-
You want to look good to others. Make an effort on your appearance. Get a haircut or buy new clothes. Dress to impress your date. By making an effort on how you look, you are showing you care about yourself and are projecting the best of yourself. You don't have to be the best looking person around, but you need to show confidence in yourself. Ask friends for advice on your wardrobe or hairstyle.
-
Have a Positive Attitude
-
Go into each date with a positive attitude. Don't let the past affect you. You may have had some bad dates recently. You may even be getting over a bad breakup, but remember you want your date to have a good time with you. Instead of talking about your failed relationships, focus on positive things. Talk about activities you enjoy. Encourage your date to talk about herself. Ask questions and really listen.
Have Fun
-
Don't be too serious. Don't go into each date expecting this person to be the one for you. Don't place high expectations on your date or yourself. Have a good time getting to know the other person and do something fun, such as dancing or karaoke singing. The point is to keep it light and not come across as desperate and needy. Your date will see your carefree side and enjoy your company.
