Whether you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, achievement or are just bringing together a group of friends, a western-themed party is one that all of your guests can enjoy. Celebrating in cowboy outfits amidst western decorations, guests will want food that also makes them feel as though they are in the wild west. Luckily, there are several options for party foods that will nicely complement any western party. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. BBQ

    • Barbecued food is iconic of the wild west so it would fit in perfectly at any western party. You can choose from a wide variety of items that are often barbecued: brisket, pork, turkey legs, ribs, steak, chicken, corn on the cob, hot dogs or hamburgers. Cook your food on a charcoal grill for the most authentic, smoky flavor, but if that is not available, use a propane grill or other way of cooking over an open fire.

    Chili

    • Another classic western food that can be served with your main course is chili. Chili is a great party food because you can make it in large quantities before the party and just let it sit in the slow cooker. A traditional chili contains beef, tomato sauce, kidney beans, garlic, onion, chili powder and other seasonings. While these ingredients serve as a guide, you can combine whatever other ingredients that you think would taste great to make the chili your own.

    Snacks

    • There are several western-themed snacks that you can serve to your guests during the party. Beef jerky and pretzels are rustic choices for salty snacks. Watermelon slices are a good choice for a party fruit. Cocktail weenies served with toothpicks and dipping sauces can also be a fun party snack.

    Dessert

    • If your western party is for a birthday or other celebration, a cake will be the most appropriate choice for dessert. You can serve a traditional cake with various western images displayed in the frosting, or you can cut the cake into the shape of a horse or horseshoe to achieve the western effect. Another fun dessert would be to have your guests make s'mores. Graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows make up the traditional s'more. Your guests can make their own s'mores over a bonfire or you can bake some for the party in your kitchen beforehand.
