Icebreaking Games for Dating
Asking a new person you're dating about himself can be challenging. Too many questions may overwhelm him, while too few may make him think you're not interested. Asking personal questions may be perceived as being nosy, but asking dry ones may make you seem like a bore. Playing icebreaker games can help take the pressure off of getting to know one another, calm your nerves and prevent awkwardness.

Free Association
-
Free-association games are easy to play because you don't need any supplies. One person says a word or phrase and the other person quickly says the first word that comes to mind. Take turns giving words and responding. You might be surprised by both of your answers. This is a good exercise for letting go of your inhibitions. Don't be afraid to be silly in front of the other person, and be honest with your responses.
Either/Or
-
Either/Or games teach your about the other person's likes and dislikes about a wide variety of subjects. Pose a question, such as "Ice cream or cake?" or "Cats or dogs?" or "West Coast or East Coast?" The other person should rapidly respond with his preference and then ask you a question in return. This game helps you discover interesting facts about your date in a non-invasive way and may help you find some common ground.

Bag Dump
-
Empty the contents of your purse or wallets onto a table. Go through each item and explain its significance. You'll gain an intimate perspective of your date and learn a bit about his life. He'll enjoy seeing the driver's license photo you took when you were young and you might discover that you love the same gum. Telling stories behind personal mementos, such as a lucky keychain or family photos, will help you learn about one another in a unique way.
Table Talk
-
Compare culinary stories to see who has eaten the most bizarre or exotic food. This game will provide insight into your date's personality and tell you whether she is an adventurous, bold type or if she is reserved. Swapping stories about eating escargot or raw octopus will ease nerves, but they'll also help you learn about your date's past travel experiences and favorite restaurants.
