The Art Institute is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and offers both associate and bachelor's degrees in digital photography. The program instructs students on composition, lighting effectiveness, equipment maintenance and care, utilization of a digital camera, darkroom techniques and software. The school offers the winner of its Storytellers Photography Competition a scholarship into The Art Institute's photography program. Contestants must inspire and impress judges by submitting six photographs to tell a story.

Indiana State University is located in Terre Haute and offers courses in photography to both undergraduate and graduate students. The photography department is located in Fairbanks Hall that boasts an impressive 2,500 square feet of space and has a shooting studio, and black and white as well as color darkrooms. Its proximity to the painting and printmaking departments means students will never fall short of inspiration.

Indiana University, with campuses in South Bend, Gary and Bloomington, offers degrees in fine, visual or studio arts with an emphasis on photography. The Bloomington location gives graduate students the luxury of having their own individual darkroom space. Students are also visited by inspiring artists, such as Jonathan Green, Carrie Mae Weems and Andres Serrano. The South Bend location encourages students to participate in its Fine Arts Club and potentially have their work showcased in the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Gallery. The Gary location showcases student work in its Senior Thesis Exhibition. Students must create and maintain a portfolio of a minimum of 10 to 20 pieces to be considered for the exhibition.
University of Saint Francis

The University of Saint Francis is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana and offers students a degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis on photography. Its photography facilities include a 20-station black and white darkroom, a five-station color darkroom as well as separate work stations for film loading, processing and film drying. The school encourages participation in its Photography Club and directs students toward regional internship opportunities as well as opportunities to work with the campus newspaper, "The Paw Print."
