Indian culinary schools teach students how to prepare tasty Indian dishes.

Indian cuisine entails a wide variety of foods including vegetarian dishes, meat based foods, a variety of breads, Indian-Chinese cuisine, snacks and desserts. There are culinary schools established that teach Indian style cooking so that lovers of Indian style food do not have to travel all the way to India to enjoy their favorite Indian dish.   1. Julie Sahni Indian Cooking School

    • Julie Sahni's Indian Cooking school provides learners of Indian cooking with intense participation, private classes for non-professional as well as professional chefs. The classes offered by Julie Sahni are offered in two formats; a two-day intensive program and a three-and-a-half day comprehensive program. The classes emphasize using aromatics in preparing food and their effect on the taste buds, as well as the right use of Indian spices, herbs and seasonings. Also included in the classes are Indian cooking techniques and the historical, cultural and religious background of Indian cuisine. Julie Shani's studio is based in New York City near the Brooklyn Bridge.

    Naveen's Cuisine

    • Chef Naveen specializes in teaching Indian Thai cooking, with classes that are held on multiple evenings throughout the week. Naveen's Cuisine is Chicago-based and in addition to Indian and Thai cooking classes, invites chefs from the Chicago area to come by and show off their cooking skills. The classes offered include instructions, recipes and the ingredients for preparing Indian and Thai food. In addition to being a culinary school, Naveen's Cuisine offers a catering service, demonstration and dinner nights, grab-and-go meals and opens up the kitchen, with or without chef, for special private events.

    Kay's Cookery

    • Kay's Cookery is a London-based Indian cuisine cooking school that was established by Kalwant Sahota after she returned from her journey through India with TV cooking personality Gary Rhodes for the Rhodes Across India program. Kay expanded her already extensive knowledge of Indian cooking while on her trek with Rhodes as she learned from local experts across India. In addition to teaching Indian cooking, students at Kay's Cookery can also learn how to prepare international cuisine, baking and how to prepare specialized menus for people who suffer from food allergies, such as a wheat-free menu.

    Arvinda's Healthy Gourmet Indian Cooking

    • Arvinda's Healthy Gourmet Indian Cooking is a Toronto-based cooking school whose specialty is teaching students how to prepare authentic, vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian and Thai cuisine. At Arvinda's Healthy Gourmet Indian Cooking, students will be guided through the basics of Indian cuisine as they learn about the ingredients, techniques and recipes that accompany Indian cooking. Classes are taught by Arvinda Chauhan and Preena Chauan, daughter of Arvinda, and are geared for beginners as well as seasoned veterans of the culinary world.
