No teenager wants to get up early and spend too much time doing her hair before school. A good everyday teen hairstyle is easy to style and doesn't need constant fussing throughout the day. When you're choosing a style, keep your hair type in mind to avoid disappointments. Just because the hairstyle looks great on the model doesn't mean it will look the same with your own hair. A classic short hair style is a pixie cut or layered cut. The hair is cut in very short layers that taper down and end at the nape of the neck. Teens often like dramatic styles such as a Mohawk with shaved sides and hair sticking up in a strip down the middle. The messy hair style is a short, choppy cut and the hair is usually left to look unkempt.

The bob cut is smooth and sleek and can be very short, ending just below the ears, or at the jaw line with or without bangs. The shag is a hair cut with many layers from the crown to just below the shoulders. Curly hair can be achieved with hot rollers or a permanent wave. Justin Bieber is one celebrity who popularized the side-shag hair cut. This cut has choppy layers that frame the face and is pushed in a sweeping fashion to one side. Guys are more aware of how to use hair products these days and are using them to create the bed head, or messy hairstyle. This is another layered cut, but the hair is deliberately styled to look like he just got out of bed.

Teens love experimenting, and they especially love to experiment with hot colors. One trend is to color only part of your hair a wild, vibrant color such as hot pink or purple. Color just the bottom, or color a large stripe down one side. It's a good idea to use a temporary hair color for anything extreme, because it will wash out in just a couple of washings.
